The Greenhouse is complete! We hope that it will keep the birds and other animals out, as well as provide some protection from the sun while still getting some diffused light. After all, we do live in Texas and the summers have been brutal. Some of our residents, either enjoy taking part in planting the garden or like to watch the fruits and vegetables as they grow and they enjoy biting into a juicy, sweet, home grow tomato. We will keep posting photos of our progress.

Spring Greenhouse

Doves' Nest is converting the old garden space into a greenhouse. Taking on the task of building and designing this project is my daughter, Ezrah Khan, and her husband, Tim Nodine.

Here are some 'before' pictures of the garden taken from different angles.

Here are some images of the stages of the project.

We used schedule 40, 1/2" PVC pipe cut to size and connected with joints to make the basic frame of the house.
Once the frame was glued, we used rope and stakes to create tension for extra support to the frame, then covered the frame with green shade cloth using zip ties to fasten the cloth to the frame.
And finally, the plants! My nephew, Anthony has been lending a hand around Doves' Nest lately, and he did a great job of planting our new babies! We're starting with tomatoes, peppers and herbs. They've been in the ground for just one day and already they've perked up!

Our ladies enjoyed a day of pampering and prepping for the photo shoot. We had a fabulous time!

A copy of the photos will be given to the families as a Valentine's Day gift. Another copy will replace last years photos on our Wall of Grace.

In Memory of Mayme Lou Barrett

Our hearts are saddened by the passing of one of the most amazing women, Mayme Lou Barrett. Mayme Lou went home to the Lord on Sunday, February 5. She often said she was ready to be with her Jesus! We rejoice in knowing that she is in the presence of our God and Savior. Mayme Lou Barrett, we love you and you will be missed.
